treatment of tension headache with botox

Cluster headache is a neurological disorder that results in severe and recurring headache on one side of the head, typically around the eye. The term "cluster headache" refers to the clustered headache attacks that usually occur at the same time, and patients typically experience repeated episodes of severe, one-sided headache.

Among the known causes that can lead to cluster headaches are:

1. Genetic and hereditary factors.

2. Sudden release of histamine and serotonin in the body.

3. Injury to a part of the brain below the hypothalamus.

4. Smoking.

5. Alcohol.

6. Extreme heat.

There may also be psychological or unknown factors that trigger the headache.

- Severe, recurrent headache on one side of the head, with each attack lasting from 15 to 180 minutes.

- Pain focused around the eye.

- Watery eyes.

- Nasal congestion.

- Swelling around the eye and its surrounding area.

Cluster headache attacks occur repeatedly with sudden periods of relief in between. However, approximately 10 to 15% of chronic cluster headaches do not have these periods of relief.

**Other Types of Headache and Their Causes:**

- **Cervicogenic Headache:** Resulting from upper cervical spine stiffness, it is treated using thermal frequency techniques for spinal joints under the influence of local anesthesia and interventional radiology.

- **Occipital Neuralgia:** Occurs in the back of the head, and the pain can radiate to the top of the head or the neck. This type of headache is treated by targeting the occipital nerve with thermal frequency therapy.

**Treatment Methods for Cluster Headaches Using Thermal Frequency:**

Thermal frequency therapy is considered a magical solution for treating various types of headaches, including trigeminal neuralgia, cluster headaches, and cervicogenic headaches when drug treatment fails to control them.

The procedure begins with a diagnostic nerve injection using local anesthesia to determine which nerve is causing the headache. The choice of nerve depends on the suspected cause of the headache. For instance, spinal joints and nerves between the vertebrae are injected in cases of cervicogenic headaches, while the fifth cranial nerve is injected in cases of trigeminal neuralgia, and the sphenopalatine ganglion is injected in cases of cluster headaches.

The patient may not feel immediate relief after thermal frequency therapy. It typically takes about two weeks to experience real improvement. During this time, the patient may fluctuate between feeling better and experiencing pain, which is normal. Patients are advised to rest at home, avoid noise, stress, and bright lights to increase their chances of improvement.

**Thermal Frequency:**

This is a computer-based technology that delivers thermal frequencies through a needle directed to the sphenopalatine ganglion at the base of the skull. This minimally invasive procedure is performed in an operating room to ensure sterility. Local anesthesia is used, and guidance is provided by interventional radiology. The procedure takes about half an hour, after which the patient can return home on the same day and resume their normal activities as soon as possible.

**Advantages of Non-Surgical Treatment for Trigeminal Neuralgia:**

The term "non-surgical treatment" is used because it is performed inside the operating room, but it is minimally invasive and does not involve any surgical incisions or cuts. It is safe, simple, and quick, lasting no more than half an hour inside the operating room under local anesthesia. Patients can leave the hospital on the same day and regain their normal lives as soon as possible.

**Why Choose Dr. Mohamed Koura:**

Simply put, because he is the best doctor. He stays updated on the latest treatment technologies through his participation in various international conferences with leading foreign doctors and experts. Finally, and most importantly, Dr. Mohamed Koura is the best doctor in Egypt and the Arab world, possessing 12 non-surgical techniques for treating spinal and joint problems. He was the first to introduce modern interventional treatment techniques in Egypt and the Middle East and is the only one using the disc fx technique to treat spinal pain.
